New Ativ computer and Galaxy phone products will be unveiled in London on June 20, Samsung has announced.
In invites sent to the media, the South-Korean manufacturer announced that at an event at London’s Earl’s Court on June 20 Android Galaxy and Windows Ativ devices will be revealed.
The pictures on the invite appear to indicate the forthcoming availability of a Samsung Ativ ultrabook, which could replace the Samsung Series 9. The slimline laptop is currently Samsung’s flagship, despite not featuring the touchscreens necessary to deliver Windows 8’s full capabilities.
Leaks of a ‘Mini’ version of the Galaxy S4 phone, which recently passed the 10million sales milestone, and of a rugged ‘active’ version of the device have encouraged commentators to believe the event will either be a supplementary event to the S4 launch in New York, as well as the speculation that it will see the launch of new Windows Phone products.
The S4 Mini would follow in the footsteps of the S3 Mini, offering a less powerful processor and a smaller screen. Rumours for the S4 Mini suggest that it could feature a 1.6Ghz dual-core processor, 4.3” display and 8MP camera.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S3 smartphone at the same London venue, but recently moved its major launch for the S4 to New York. It has not previously combined major Android and Microsoft events, however.
