Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Amidst Users’ Uproar, Official Android 4 .3 Jelly Bean Finally Coming This October For Handset

12 Sep

Samsung Galaxy S3 update will finally be a reality. According to reports, users of the handset will finally get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the tech blog Android Authority reports. This was after the delay on Android 4.2.2 occurred only for users to be informed that it was canceled in favor of the latest version of the OS.

Tensions ran high amongst Samsung Galaxy S3’s owners whenever the topic of an update is discussed. Many of the smartphone’s owners are disillusioned at the slow pace of the update being available, especially when less-famous handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S2 has received Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy S3 was launched last year with the Android 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich and during this summer, it received the Android 4.1.2 update. The update, according to Android Authority, did not come without problems.

Big Red carrier Verizon first released the 4.1.2 update and also added support for features like Multi-Window multitasking, Multi-Screen and S Beam’s Auto Share Shot. After the update Samsung Galaxy S3 users began experiencing issues on 4G LTE connectivity, which prompted the U.S. carrier to pull the update.

The lack of an official Android 4.2.2 update spread rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S3 may move straight to Android 4.3.

Android 4.3 is still sourced out from Android Jelly Bean, together with Android 4.1 and 4.2, noted Android Authority. The new features it brings include restricted profiles, Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy support, Open GL 3.0 support, and a T9 dialer. There has also been improvement in terms of notifications for the device.

Aside from the Samsung Galaxy S3, owners of the company’s flagship handset Samsung Galaxy S4 will also get the update.
