If you have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or the Samsung Galaxy S3 you can unlock the handset free in easy to follow steps. With the device unlocked you are able to use it with any carrier and even use it abroad.

If you took the handset with Verizon then this is the only carrier that you can use it with. But once unlocked it can be sent to family or friends. So if you want to go ahead and unlock your device, follow the steps below.

First take the SIM card from the handset and then turn the device off and back on again.

Go into the dial pad on the phone and enter *#197328640#. Head to Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 OFF. You then wait for 30 seconds. Then go back into and select Back. You should hopefully see Network Lock. Choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.

The sequence that you should have typed in is Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound. Some people call the asterisk the star button, and the pound button sometimes gets called hash.

Providing you have followed the steps you should now be holding an unlocked version of the device and you can use it anywhere in the world. Samsung have used the code for some time and so you could find that it will work with any handset.
